I have been owned by Bloodhounds for more than 2 decades, have had Juras since 2000, and the Harriers are a new addition as of 2007.

I began my foray into the dog world in 1987 when I purchased my first bloodhound, Ch. Trackside's Isabel Telemetrue. We started by competing in obedience. Trust me, she NEEDED those obedience classes! She quickly earned her CD, and we ventured into conformation. There was a lot more competition in the showring in Canada in those days, which made it exciting and fun, and a real accomplishment when she obtained her Canadian championship. I purchased my first male bloodhound in 1988, Can/Am Ch. Ponderosa Eustace Mason. He made the conformation ring even more exciting by winning multiple group placements. "Isabel" and "Mason" produced their first litter in 1989, and the rest, as they say, is history! |
I obtained my first Clumber Spaniel in 1992. "Blossom" earned her Canadian championship very quickly, often winning Best of Breed from the classes. My second clumber "Lacey" followed closely in Blossom's pawprints, also winning multiple Best of Breed awards from the classes, having done so at her very first show, at the tender age of 6 months and a few days old, over multiple champions! The highlight of Lacey's career was winning Best in Specialty at the Clumber Spaniel Club of Canada National Specialty.
My entry into the Bruno du Jura, Type St Hubert took a number of years. We had seen photos in a book and decided that we would like to try and find them. They were almost impossible to find! A friend living in Germany once asked me what I would like for a Christmas gift. I told her that if she could find a breeder of this breed that it would be the best gift ever! Well, she came through and found a breeder in France, where we purchased our first 2 Juras, Nouchka and Pasha.
I began my interest in Harriers when I started showing one for a friend of mine. Jonathan is a mellow, sweet boy, but full of mischief! Heaven help us if he got loose, as thus began a game of "Catch me if you can"!! He is a lovely boy, and the highlight of our careers was winning multiple Best of Breed awards at the Eukanuba Invitations show in the U.S., Best of Breed at the covetted Westminster Kennel Club show in New York City, and Best of Breed at the Harrier Club of America National Specialty in California. After such accomplishments, and having such a fun time showing him, I thought that this was a breed that I could have some fun with. They are not a very popular breed, which honestly kind of surprises me as they are such clowns!
The past year I have not been able to attend as many shows as I have in the past, mostly due to work commitments. I continue to attend as many specialties as possible, and hope to start getting out more often, now that I have a number of dogs that really need to see the inside of the show ring!

We are located in the beautiful, rolling Trent Hills region of southern Ontario, Canada. I reside with my daughter Jenn, who breeds and exhibits some of North America's top English Foxhounds, her husband Ron, who breeds and exhibits German Shepherds, my step-grandson Nathan, who has little interest in dogs, but put a hockey stick in his hand any day, and my granddaughter Sera, who is the up-and-coming professional handler! My daughter and son-in-law are both pro handlers, and Jenn grew up showing my bloodhounds so Sera comes by it honestly!
